Questions & Answers
Do I still need a handleset if I'm going to use smart lock?
Shopping for a smart lock is confusing enough without having to worry about what door handle you’ll pair it with. Most smart and electronic locks don't come with a matching handle, but retailers like Lowe's often bundle them for one price. If you're unable to find a bundle, it doesn’t make sense to buy a complete handleset, only to toss the deadbolt that you don’t need. That’s why Schlage carries just front entry handles that pair perfectly with our electronic and smart locks.
What's the difference between door knobs and handlesets?
While basic keyed entry door knobs will secure your home, if you’re looking for a more elegant look, a handleset may be the way to go. Most handle sets don’t have a lock on the handle itself, but come with a matching deadbolt. Handle sets may also come in different options: single door entry, glass door entry, and double door entry. For single door entry, there’s a handle and deadbolt on the outside, and a thumb turn on the inside that locks or unlocks the door. Full glass entry doors sometimes contain double cylinder deadbolts. For double front entry doors, two handle sets will be needed — one for each door. Usually, one door is active and locks/unlocks, while the other one is inactive.
Do Schlage Front Entry Handlesets use knobs or levers on the door's interior?
Schlage offers users the flexibility of choosing either knobs or levers for the interior side of the door. This allows homeowners to customize their door hardware based on personal preference and interior decor. Knobs offer a classic look and are generally childproof, while levers provide an easier grip, making them a great option for individuals with accessibility concerns.
